Soft, cozy landscapes

Last night I had the urge to paint something softer than the usual in-your-face bright paintings I usually sell. I must say, it was most soothing.

The subject I picked was Suilven - a mountain way up in Sutherland in the north-west of Scotland. I couldn't completely let go of the usual landscape features though and made sure I included a cottage and a telegraph pole.

Apart from that though, I picked muted colours, reasonably gentle contrasts and built it up in lots of layers.

What I ended up with was a painting I am extremely happy with, and would be proud to sell to anyone.
